O what a
wondrous exchange: the creator of humankind taking a
living body, deigned to be born of a virgin: and coming
forth man without seed has given to us His Divinity.
The Lord is king, with majesty enrobed;
the Lord has robed himself with might, he has girded
himself with power.
The world you made firm, not to be moved;
your throne has stood firm from of old. From all
eternity, O Lord, you are.
The waters have lifted up, O Lord,
the waters have lifted up their voice,
the waters have lifted up their thunder.
Greater than the roar of mighty waters
more glorious than the surgings of the sea, the Lord is
glorious on high.
Truly your decrees are to be trusted.
Holiness is fitting to your house, O Lord, until the end
of time.
V.
Glory be to the

save mankind: we praise you our God.
Cry out with joy to the Lord, all the earth.
Serve the Lord with gladness.
Come before him, singing for joy.
Know that he, the Lord, is God.
He made us, we belong to him,
we are his people, the sheep of his flock.
Go within his gates, giving thanks. Enter his courts

Give thanks to him and bless his name.
Indeed, how good is the Lord, eternal his merciful love.
He is faithful from age to age.

O God, you are my God, for you I long;
for you my soul is thirsting.
my body pines for you
like a dry, weary land without water.
So I gaze on you in the sanctuary to see your strength
and your glory.
For your love is better than life,
my lips will speak your praise.
So I will bless you all my life,
in your name I will lift up my hands.
My soul shall be filled as with a banquet,
my mouth shall praise you with joy.
On my bed I remember you.
On you I muse through the night for your have been my
help;
in the shadow of your wings I rejoice.
My soul clings to you; your right hand holds me fast.
Those who seek to destroy my life
shall go down to the depths of the earth. They shall be
put into the power of the sword and left as the prey of
the jackals.

all mountains and hills,
all fruit trees and cedars,
beasts, wild and tame,
reptiles and birds on the wing;
all earth's kings and peoples,
earth's princes and rulers,

Let the praise of God be on their lips

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel:
He has visited his people and redeemed them.
He has raised up for us a mighty savior
in the house of David his servant,
as he promised by the lips of holy men,
those who were his prophets from of old,
a savior who would free us from our foes,
from the hands of all who hate us.
So his love for our fathers is fulfilled
and his holy covenant remembered.
He swore to Abraham our father
to grant us that,
free from fear (+) and saved from the hands of our
foes, o we might serve him
in holiness and justice
all the days of our life in his presence.
As for you, little child, you shall be called a prophet
of God the Most High.
You shall go ahead of the Lord to prepare his ways
before him,
to make known to his people their salvation
through forgiveness of all their sins,
the lovingkindness of the heart of our God,
who visits us like the dawn from on high.
He will give light to those in darkness, those who

O what a
wondrous exchange: the creator of humankind taking a
living body, deigned to be born of a virgin: and coming
forth man without seed has given to us His Divinity.
O God, save me by your
name; by your power, uphold my cause.
O God, hear my prayer;
listen to the words of my mouth.
For proud men have risen
against me, ruthless men seek my life. They have no
regard for God.
But I have God for my help.
The Lord upholds my life.
Let the evil recoil upon my
foes; you who are faithful, destroy them.
I will sacrifice to you
with willing heart and praise your name for it is good:
for you have rescued me
from all distress and my eyes have seen the downfall of
my foes.

O Lord, you once favored your land and revived the
fortunes of Jacob,
you forgave the guilt of your people and covered all
their sins.
You averted all your rage, you calmed the heat of your
anger.
Revive us now, God, our helper! Put an end to your
grievance against us.
Will you be angry with us for ever,
will your anger never cease? Will you not restore again
our life that your people may rejoice in you?
Let us see, O Lord, your mercy and give us your saving
help.
I will hear what the Lord God has to say, a voice that
speaks of peace,
peace for his people and his friends and those who turn
to him in their hearts.
His help is near for those who fear him and his glory
will dwell in our land.
Mercy and faithfulness have met; justice and peace have
embraced.
Faithfulness shall spring from the earth and justice
look down from heaven.
The Lord will make us prosper and our earth shall yield
its fruit.
Justice shall march before him and peace shall follow
his steps.

embrace me.
Praise, O servants of
the Lord, praise the name of the Lord!
May the name of the
Lord be blessed both now and for evermore!
From the rising of
the sun to its setting praised be the name of the Lord!
High above all
nations is the Lord, above the heavens his glory.
Who is like the Lord,
our God, who has risen on high to his throne yet stoops
from the heights to look down, to look down upon heaven
and earth?
From the dust he
lifts up the lowly, from the dungheap he raises the poor
to set them in the
company of princes, yes, with the princes of his people.
To the childless wife
he gives a home and gladdens her heart with children.
V.
Glory be to the
Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Spirit.
R.
As it was in the
beginning, is now and ever shall be,
*
world without
end. Amen.
Ant.
His left hand is under my head: his right hand shall
embrace me.

I am black, but beautiful, o daughters of Jerusalem:
therefore the king has loved me and brought me into
his chamber.
I rejoiced
when I heard them say:
“Let us go to God's
house.”
And now our feet are
standing within your gates, O Jerusalem.
Jerusalem is built as
a city strongly compact.
It is there that the
tribes go up, the tribes of the Lord. For Israel's law
it is, there to praise the Lord's name.
There were set the
thrones of judgment of the house of David.
For the peace of
Jerusalem pray: “Peace be to your homes!
May peace reign in
your walls, in your palaces, peace!”
For love of my
brethren and friends I say: “Peace upon you.”
For love of the house
of the Lord I will ask for your good.

Winter is now past: the rain is gone, and departed:
arise my love, and come.
If the Lord does not
build the house, in vain do its builders labor;
if the Lord does not
watch over the city, in vain does the watchman keep
vigil.
In
vain is your earlier rising, your going later to rest,
you who toil for the bread you eat,
when he pours gifts
on his beloved while they slumber. Truly sons are a gift
from the Lord, a blessing, the fruit of the womb.
Indeed the sons of
youth are like arrows in the hand of a warrior.
O the happiness of
the man who has filled his quiver with these arrows! He
will have no cause for shame when he disputes with his
foes in the gateways.

You are made
beautiful, and sweet in your delights, O Holy
Mother of God.
O praise the Lord,
Jerusalem! Zion praise your God!
He has strengthened the
bars of your gates he has blessed the children within
you.
He established peace on
your borders, he feeds you with finest wheat.
He sends out his word to
the earth and swiftly runs his command.
He showers down snow
white as wool, he scatters hoar-frost like ashes.
He hurls down hailstones
like crumbs. The waters are frozen at his touch;
He sends forth his word
and it melts them: at the breath of his mouth the waters
flow.
He makes his word known
to Jacob, to Israel his laws and decrees.
He has not dealt thus
with other nations; he has not taught them his decrees.
