EUCHERIUS, bishop of Lyons from c. 434. Although married and a father he became a monk at Lérins and an eager defender of the ascetical life. Around 434 he became Bishop of Lyons, but of his administration as Bishop we know little more than that he presided with Hilary of Arles over the Synod of Orange in 441. He wrote exegetical and ascetical works.
